Why Our Flour

Why Our Flour

Not all flour is created equal — and at Nourish Flours, we think the difference is something you can taste, feel, and trust.

It starts with the grain. We source only the finest certified organic grains, grown right here in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. No compromises at the source means no compromises in your kitchen.

Stoneground the traditional way. Our flours are milled using slow-grinding, traditional stone mills, a method that gently preserves the grain's natural structure — keeping the bran, germ, and endosperm intact. Our sifted flours have some of the bran removed for lighter baking. This means your flour arrives with its full nutritional profile: dietary fiber, protein, B vitamins, healthy fats, and minerals like magnesium and iron — exactly as nature intended.

Pure. Nothing added. Mainstream commercial flours are routinely stripped of their nutrients during processing, then "enriched" with synthetic vitamins and minerals to compensate. We don't do that. We don't add enrichments, bleaching agents, preservatives, or any chemicals of any kind. What goes into the bag is exactly what came from the grain — pure, honest flour.

Small batch. Always fresh. We mill in small batches so that every bag you receive is as fresh as possible. Freshness isn't just about flavour — it's about the nutritional value that diminishes in flour that sits in warehouses for months.

A family legacy, rooted in your community. Grain farming and milling runs in our family across generations. We brought that passion from South Africa to the sun-drenched Okanagan, driven by one simple belief: that your family deserves better flour — healthier, more wholesome, and made with genuine care.

Better flour. Better baking. Better for you. Whether you're a home baker or a professional chef, Nourish Flours gives you a foundation you can feel good about — from the first mix to the last bite.
